Stephen Hawking | The modern cosmologist is no more
Stephen William Hawking was born on 8th January 1942. At his age of 21, he was affected by amyotrophic lateral sclerosis ( A type of Paralysis). Also at the age of 43, he was affected by a severe attack of pneumonia, which left him breathing through a tube. And forced him to communicate through an electronic voice synthesizer which gave him his distinctive robotic monotone.
Despite his ill health, he continued his leading scientific work.
The Man’s brilliant mind has been ranged across time and space for long years. He is the best-known physicist of his time, who has thirteen honorary degrees.
He is also one among the group of scientists, who search for the great goal of physics,” Unified theory”. His modern cosmology has inspired global audiences.
Apart from a scientist and physicist, he is also a good writer. His publications include The Large Scale Structure of Spacetime with G F R Ellis, General Relativity: An Einstein Centenary Survey, with W Israel, and 300 Years of Gravitation, with W Israel.
Among the popular books, Stephen Hawking has published are his best seller A Brief History of Time, Black Holes and Baby Universes and Other Essays, The Universe in a Nutshell, The Grand Design and My Brief History.
With his fellow physicist Roger Penrose, Hawking merged Einstein’s theory of relativity with quantum theory. The great scientist also discovered that black holes are not completely black but emit radiation and will likely eventually evaporate and disappear.
For his great works and discoveries, he won the Albert Einstein Award, the Wolf Prize, the Copley Medal, and the Fundamental Physics Prize.
However difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at.
