The long last India-based Neutrino Observatory (INO) project has finally got a positive result. Yes!! the proposed project was approved for Environmental clearance by the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF).

This was not the first time, as previous Environmental clearance was granted in 2011, which was quashed by courts because of the committee’s excuses regarding location.

After resolving the location issue, the committee has recommended granting the environmental clearance for the delayed science project. Which would come up in Bodi West Hills at Pottipuram village in Uthamapalayam taluk of Theni district.

Approval for Environmental clearance:

Considering the national importance of the proposal, the MoEF decided to take the proposal at the Central level as a special case a category 8(a) project and granted environmental clearance with 17 conditions.

The Neutrino project has been approved only after the going through the geotechnical investigation report on studies carried out for locating underground laboratory of INO at Pottipuram.

After the careful consideration with officials from Defence Research and Development Organisation, the committee has approved the Neutrino project.

The serious research results that they would not be any environs will be affecting of blasting on residents.

However, the panel clarified that the project cannot move any further without the statutory clearances from Tamil Nadu government.

Because even in the last month meeting, Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam had mentioned that the project would not be allowed if it was found to be harmful

The INO project director, Vivek Datar conveyed his gratitude and mentioned that they would hope the project will progress smoothly further and would bring laurels for India.
